– At least two people were shot dead Friday on the campus of Central Michigan University, authorities said.

The shooting occurred at Campbell Hall around 8:30 a.m. at the Mount Pleasant campus, which is about 150 miles northwest of Detroit.

Two people were killed, the school said. No one else was injured.

School officials said the shooting grew from a domestic dispute. Neither of the dead victims were students, they added.

CMU identified a person of interest in the shooting — 19-year-old James Eric Davis Jr. The city of Mount Pleasant tweeted that the suspect may “have taken off his hoodie.”

Following the gunfire, the school advised students and staff to “take shelter” or avoid the area.

“MSP is committing aviation, canine and Emergency Support Team resources at this time,” Michigan State Police said on Twitter. “The CMU police department is the lead agency investigating this incident.”

“The priority right now is the safety of those still on campus and I thank all first responders involved for their swift action,” Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder said.

With enrollment of about 20,000 students, Central Michigan University is one of the largest campuses in Michigan. read more http://tinyurl.com/y7h97s5e
